Merry Christmas To All

Christmas is a time to reflect
On all that God has done
It's not a matter of what we get,
But the birth of the Holy one
It's not about gifts
With ribbons and bows,
Or Christmas trees,
Tinsel and mistletoe
The Christmas gift given to us,
Is Jesus Christ's
Gift of love.

- M.S.Lowndes

MERRY CHRISTMAS
and
A HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Piggy Fridge Magnet

This Piggy fridge magnet was given to me by Jo . Awwww it is such a cute piggy....all pink and beautiful...made of ceramic with a magnetic backing.  I adore its face so much that I immediately place in on the fridge door to add to my other collection.  I just have to show off to you here :p  It makes me happy seeing it looking sweet and adorable there on the fridge door whenever I am in the kitchen. Collecting all these cuties on my fridge door has turned me into a 5 year old kid instead of 25 * ooops is it 25 LOL! Just the same, I love them looking piggy and porky !  Than you Jo for such a cute and priceless gift.  This is the only exception that I did not place it in my Piggy treasure container !  Its rightful place is on my fridge door :))) and guess what ?  I named her PINKY !  :)

Now, I will be collecting Piggy fridge magnets and soon
Wild Boar will have his ' Piggies relatives ' staying in his kitchen, LOL !

A Colony Of African Honey Bees Found In My Garden

I woke up one morning and went to my unkept little side garden to see what has happened to all my plants...I have neglected my garden since my surgery.  I depended on mother nature to water my plants but due to dry season , some of the plants are dying of thirst.  I took the hose and started watering the dying plants and gosh to my horror, I discovered this colony of African Honey Bees  . I ran into the house and took out my camera and started shooting away.   After which I told hubby about the hive ....lucky I took a picture before informing him or I will never be able to take a shot of them for he warned me not to go near them....LOL!  He called the fire deparment and got the men to come blast them off :P cruelty to animals ?   Two firemen came at night to blast them with just a can of ' Baygon ' .  As they spray the pesticide on them, they use a lighter and blast them off.  Within a few seconds, they bees were killed and some of my plants were burnt too.   Don't try doing this yourself...call the Fire Department and they will send their men over to investigate and they will deal with it the correct way. The bees looked menacing...don't they?

The Fragrance Is Truly Uplifting ! I Smell This Every Morning :)

One part of me hates the hot and humid weather but on the other hand, I love it for my plants.  The flowers are blooming beautifully in my unkept garden :p   The  miniature 'jasmine ' plant - I don't really know the botanical name for this flower , is flowering . I apologize for not being able to give the name of the plant , but I know it belongs to the jasmine family.  The fragrance from this flower is exactly like the jasmine flowers.  The flowers are tiny white and the fragrance is like the fragrance from the Jasmine flower.  I planted the plant near my letter box . And each time , I open the letter box, I bound to smell the sweet fragrant of Jasmine....so refreshing !  The flowers bloom through out the year. The flowers look pristine white and pure and smell good.  Every morning , I will not stop to look at them.  They truly are inspirting - reminding me what a great Creator I have and this flower reminds me to stay pure and holy unto The Lord  :)   God is good..even in such an unkept condition, the garden smells good and still looks great with flowers blooming everywhere :)   God is good all the time and all the time God is good !

Thanksgiving prayer taken from here

Lord, the world around me is proof of your bounty.
Beauty and comfort surround me.
I am blessed by your special gifts to me.
You made me in your image and gave me all that I need for living and being content.
Thank you Lord for all these bountiful gifts.
Help me to always remember the source of my being and of all that I have and enjoy
Remind me that all that I have is given by you alone
Remind me to praise you in all things.
In Christ’s name I pray.
Amen

' Lantern Chillies ' Are In Full Bloom

I was surprised to see my ' Lantern Chilli ' in full bloom :)  The plant is almost three feet tall and growing well.  I thought it would take at least 6 months to get acclimatize to lowland ground but it is flowering and in full bloom after just 3 months after which Josh brought it back from Cameron Highland for me.   I hope the birds will not feed on them or even if they do, I pray they will leave a few for me .  I love the fragrant smell and the hotness of these chillies .These chillies are great in light soy sauce and is a great accompaniment for noodles . The hot climate is good for the plant.  I noticed that it needs plenty of water too :)  Will keep you updated on  the chillies when they are ripe for plucking.  Now I pray that the birds will leave them alone :p   I am looking forward to harvesting them in a month's time .  Stay tuned for the updates.

Almost As Good As Your Dog

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can get going without pep pills,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too
busy to give you any time.
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than an poor friend,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no
prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics,
THEN, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog.

My Rosemary Plant Is Flowering... Another Surprise!

Another thing I discovered in this unkept garden of mine was my rosemary plant is flowering :)  Nothing makes me more happy than to see my herbs and plants flowering and fruiting.  This is to show that I can now reap what I sowed  LOL!  sounded familiar ?   Yea, I do spend time in my garden but just of late been too busy with church activities.  But somehow, God is great.  Though the garden looks unkept, the plants are doing well .  The weather may be hot but it does rain in the night thus, even though I did not watered the plants of late, God waters them for me...thus they are looking good :)  I definitely must find time to do up the garden again :)

Jewels From The Garden... Lantern Chillies!

My garden is really in an unkept condition.  I was so busy with church activities since the beginning of 2013 and guess what, my garden is so bushy with wild plants that I can't see what is blooming and what is fruiting in this small bushy and unkept garden of mine.  I was looking for some calamansi  from the garden and suddenly hidden amongst some wild plants, I saw two large lantern chillies really for plucking :)  Wow, this are the first fruiting from this lantern chilli plant which Elaine, my son's girl friend gifted me.  It is as big as my thumb LOL!   This is the most pungent chilli ever and it has a nice fragrant to it besides the hottest chilli.  I am happy it has started fruiting , this means if I add in organic fertilisers , the plant will bear more chillies.  But I am happy with the two chillies .  I am sure there will be more coming in the next fruiting !  Stay tuned for more news on my unkept garden :)  This plant is from Cameron Highland.

Handmade Rattan Goods :)

On my recent visit to Kuala Kangsar , the royal town of Perak, Malaysia,  for some site work, we passed this place ( Lembah ) facing the Perak  River , where they sell rattan products. Gosh, they have many little shops selling rattan stuff like lamp shades, weave bags from palm leaves, and clay products like the clay vase and pots which the town is famous for.  They called the clay vessel " Labu Sayong ' in the local language. This special black clay water vessel is made from riverclay and it holds drinking water and keeps the water cold at all times.  My colleague and I really enjoyed browsing through all the stuffs in the shop . We didn't buy anything from the shop when we were there but I don't mind going there again, this time with the family :)

I like the rattan lamp shade and their colorful food cover :)

Handmade Gift Card

I  used to make my own greeting cards when I was younger . But with online greetings available , this hobby of mine has stopped and just recently I received a handmade card and gosh it brought back fond memories on how I used to make my own ' Teacher's Day Card', Mother's Day , Birthday's Card and Valentine's Day Card .  This is a  gift card I received recently and have kept amongst my other cards.  Simple but yet looks great :)   I love the color combination ...classy and you can't get this anywhere...one design and so exclusive :)   I love receiving handmade cards :)  I think I want to go back to making my own greeting cards...yea I think I will. I can start making them now :p so that the next birthday greeting cards will be ready for my loved ones.

My Pots Of Herbs :)

Showing off some of the herbs that I planted in my small and cramped up garden :p  I have sweet basil, tarragon, rosemary,  lemon mint, italian parsley, kaffir lime, lantern chilli , daun kalsom ( for  laksa)  But my herbs plants usually lasted for 5-6 months and I have to replaced them with new pots :p  I am hopeless when it comes to greens. I can baked well but do not have green fingers.  So do not envy me...okay.  I am better off in the kitchen than in the garden.  One thing good is that I can have the herbs  at any time when I needed them in my cooking.

Enjoy !
